Slee*stäk is a zine series based out of Seattle, Washington. Like the other zines in this exhibit it mainly focuses on skateboarding but unlike "Thing Bad" and "Self-Inflicted", is much more text based. While it does feature the collages of pictures, drawings and comics that to some extent define skater zines, text makes up the majority of nearly every page. Slee*stäk is also different from the other zines in this exhibit in the way it imitates (or at least parodies) the structure of more traditional magazines. Slee*stäk contains interviews, quizzes, a gossip column, album reviews and even a few faux advertisements. Furthermore, the zine again evidences the link between skater culture and music throguh its its humorous references to punk and page of album reviews (including advice on the best alcohol pairing for each LP).

Slee*stäk is still very much a zine at heart however, and is and  through with profanity, disestablishmentarianism and off-the wall humor.

The best way to expereience a zine is by flipping through the pages yourself so here are some digitalized slecetions from "Slee*stäk. Issue II". Feel free to flip through them and zoom in for a closer look with your mouse cursor.
