The cover of "Self Inflicted #4".

The third zine in this exhibit, "Self-Inflicted #4" is from Oceanview, California. Its title is likely a reference to injuries obtained though the often-dangerous sport of Skateboarding.  While the zine is thought to have been created and published some time between 2000 and 2016, it shares many of its aesthetic characteristics with "Thing Bad" and "Slee*stak", indicating that the general style of skater zines has remained constant over the last 20 or so years. Of the zines on display in this exhibit "Self Inflicted" has the highest concentration of photographs with whole pages soley dedicated to pictures of skateboarders in action. Another unique feature is how the zine makes a point to credit its skaters and photographers. Despite being mostly dedicated to photographs there are still some textual elements such as a short interview with the skater Jason Jesse and humorous newspaper clippings (pages 5 and 6 in the PDF). There are also photographs of people engaged in other leisure activities like attending parties and concerts (pages 3 and 7 in the PDF).  As the name would suggest, "Self Inflicted #4" is part of a larger series.

Collage on page 5 of "Self Inflicted" featuring mashed up photos of skateboarders and guitarist. Also features humorous hand written notes.

Like "Thing Bad" and "Slee*Stak", "Self Inflicted" seamlessly integrates music into its skateboarding focused imagery, demonstration an integral link between the two. Images of people playing guitar (left) and attending concerts sit shoulder to shoulder with pictures of skaters and help create the unique aesthetic of this zine genre.
